About Dustin Liebenow
Inspired by nature, its changing light, the surreal, and the Hudson River School painters among others, Dustin Liebenow, classically trained under respected painters including Donald Heintze, Greg Drasler, Howard Buchwald, and others, holds a BFA in Fine Arts with an emphasis in painting from the world-renowned Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York.
Dustin creates landscape, seascape and still life paintings in oil and watercolor and was born and raised in the beautiful countryside of upstate New York, where all of his work is created. He references the scenery and light that surround him to create paintings that explore kitsch, the surreal, and people’s perceptions of fine art as well as nature and light. Dustin's paintings are carefully crafted and curated environments, whether landscape, seascape or still life, and are designed to explore the beauty in each.
Texture, color (even though he is color-blind), and a consciousness to process and technique are important elements in his creative process and work. Dustin has completed extensive research on classical oil painting techniques and materials and creates works that pay homage to time-honored and respected traditional methods of painting, using only the finest materials and tools.
